It's a fact of life my friends — more than half of men in their 50's or older will experience hair loss. I've unfortunately been grouped in this half, having started losing my hair before 25 years old! I say unfortunately, but at the end of the day, it has been my choice whether to accept the crown or hold off from my title until I'm 100% ready to receive it.

I decided that I wasn't going to let androgenic alopecia, otherwise known as male pattern baldness, take the spring outta my step, and neither should you! There are tons of options that can help delay the inevitable, including these natural and easy ways to "stop the clock" and reverse hair loss if you're not ready to say goodbye just yet!

Here are seven simple steps to delay and help prevent premature hair loss!

How to Reverse Hair Loss

While genetic male pattern baldness can't be "cured" with shampoos or supplements, many of these products in combination with a clinically designed hair loss treatment can help prevent or slow hair loss. Depending on how early you begin taking measures to stop or reverse hair loss, you could see some great success!

1. Choose a Quality Topical Treatment

One of the few proven solutions to reverse or reduce hair loss in men is a topical treatment. These come in a variety of forms: foams, creams, and even sprays, but the ones that are the most effective at getting your follicles blossoming are minoxidil based solutions.

Minoxidil is a topical treatment that helps restore hair by pumping blood directly to your shrunken hair follicles. It produces thicker hair follicles and lengthens their time of growth, so you'll get longer, thicker hair.

Minoxidil is clinically proven to work and yields epic results! Which is why we've concocted our very own minoxidil solution called Gone Toppo, and it is part of our 100% money back subscription package

2. Eat a Healthy, Balanced Diet

While it may seem too good to be true, eating a healthy diet rich in vitamins and minerals will help put a stop on premature hair loss.

Diets rich in vitamins A, D, and C are important for good health all round. Much like joining the gain train at the gym, consuming the right amount of protein for your age and body size will help your hair grow thick and strong.

Think about it, hair is made up of proteins... so its as simple as throwing some steaks on the barbecue, grill up some savoury chicken, eat your dark green veggies, to give yourself all the chance in the world for healthier hair!

3. Stop Stressing

Stress is a common source of premature hair loss in both men and women. This is due to a number of reasons. One interesting factor is that people who are stressed out tend to pick up nervous "ticks" or habits causing damage to their hair or strain on hair follicles.

When you're nervous, do you tug or pull at your hair? Do you twirl it between your fingers or run your hands through it often?

If so, make a conscious effort to stop, it's not helping the situation at all!

These unintentional habits can cause premature balding. While too much stress is also a hormonal factor in hair loss, sometimes you can do as much damage with your own hands. Try to relax and eliminate stressors. This will help turn back the clock on hair loss, especially if used in combination with the other steps listed above.

Just chill out man, you've got this! Its all going to work out one way or another!

4. Say Good-Bye to the Man Bun

You may have become slightly attached to your man bun since going through all the effort of growing your hair out! But you've got to stop and ask yourself if the juice is worth the squeeze when it comes to your rugged man bun?

Women are often more aware of the negative effects too much tension has on their scalp from hair-ties and clips. So lads, it's time to get "in the know".

Tying your hair up tight in the same spot every day causes some serious hair damage, its actually called traction alopecia. Your hair will begin to break, fray, and eventually fall out. Not something you want when you're already struggling on the hair front.

Why not try a nice man-braid, a lower bun, or a bit of a trim? Jules, co-founder of joebloe and 3 times Australian Hair Dresser of The Year has been cutting my hair for over a year now and swears by keeping it short if you're thinning!

But if you aren't quick ready to say goodbye to your long locks, mix up your hairstyle from time to time and save your scalp from undue strain. In the process, you'll save your hair.

5. Get Plenty of Rest

Once again, one of the most essential steps in reversing the clock on early hair loss is good health.

If you're not getting enough sleep, your body can't restore itself and properly use its energy. As a result, your hair will suffer.

A lack of sleep results in lower hormone levels that help with hair growth. One of them is the Human Growth Hormone or HGH.

In combination with thinning of your hair and hair loss, sleep deprivation is also a common cause of stress on your emotional and physical health. What happens then? You guessed it... even further hair loss. Luckily, this cycle can be reversed by establishing healthy sleep habits

It may be worth setting reasonable bedtime goals for several weeks to get your body used to new levels of sleep. It will take some time for the hormones in your body to return to normal levels, but when they do you'll be laughing all the way to the bank!

6. Change Your Pillow Case

When was the last time you switched out your pillowcase? Or washed it? I'm not calling you a grub, I'm just saying, we can all be lazy... Just like wearing hats or the same tight hairstyles every day can cause friction and hair loss, so can the wrong (or less on the clean side of things) pillowcase.

Over time, your sheets and pillows become the receptacle of all your dead skin and hair. Every night you lie down on a dirty pillowcase covered in old skin cells and dead hair, you inhibit your scalp from "breathing" properly and allowing more growth. It's not only a touch gross when you really think about it but it's contributing to you losing that hair line you've grown so fond of.

Do your hair (and your skin) a favour, buy softer material pillowcases to preserve the hair on your head.

A good rule of thumb is to wash your pillowcases at least once a week to rid them of dead skin and hair that clogs your follicles.
